Posted by on Sep 29, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Quincycles is excited to announce that we will be holding our second “Destination Ride” of the year on Saturday, October 18 when we will ride The Cape Cod Shining Sea Bikeway.  Participants are invited to bring their own bicycles and meet us at 8:30am at the North Falmouth parking lot, 21 County Road, North Falmouth, MA 02556 (directions posted below). The Shining Sea Bikeway is rated by some as one of the Ten Best Bike Trails in the world!  Lined with familiar Cape Cod flower and tree species, it makes for a wonderful ride from Falmouth to scenic Woods Hole. Following the Old Colony rail line, the newer extension passes through Sippewissett Marsh, by cranberry bogs and overlooks Chapaquoit Beach. The route winds along the coastline and crisscrosses the Salt Pond Bird Sanctuary. Our ride will have two parts.  First, we will ride for approximately 60  minutes at a leisurely pace along the trail to Woods Hole.  After taking a break for coffee and breakfast treats, we will then take the return ride back to the North Falmouth parking lot. We would love to have a number of people join us, so invite your friends.  If you have a Quincycles t-shirt please wear it! For questions please contact Tim Lanham at timothy.lanham@comcast.net who will serve as the ride coordinator. For more information about the trail please click here:  Cape Code Shining Sea Bikeway. DIRECTIONS to North Falmouth Parking lot:   Drive to Cape Cod and make your way to Rt 28 S (You go onto Rt 28 South after you cross the Bourne Bridge onto the Cape). Follow Rt.28 south and take  the Rt 151 E exit towards Mashpee / North Falmouth. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Rt 151 West. Turn left onto 151 West. Continue onto County Rd for about 100 yards and the parking lot is on your right. Weather related cancellations/notices/updated will be posted here, on facebook, and sent out by email.  To be added to the Quincycles email list please email info@quincycles.org.  We look forward to a great ride!...
