Advocacy 101 Workshop

Want to make your community better? Do you want to learn how to effectively engage your elected officials and members of your community to win policy changes at the local and state level? Quincycles invites you to an advocacy workshop facilitated by community activist and professional lobbyist, Erica Mattison.

The workshop is free. Light snacks will be provided. Feel free to bring something to share as well. Please RSVP.

About Erica Mattison:

Erica Mattison, MPA, JD

Erica is a resident of Dorchester and has been a community activist working on a range of issues in Boston for over a decade.  She serves on the board of Greater Ashmont Main Street, a neighborhood revitalization non-profit, which is part of the City of Boston Main Streets Program.  She is a trained mediator, with degrees in psychology, public administration, and law.  Erica is a native of Brookline, MA and graduated from UMass Amherst Commonwealth College and Suffolk University.

In her professional capacity, Erica has worked at the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) for three years.  ELM is a non-profit leader in shaping state-level legislation regarding environment, energy, and climate.  As Legislative Director she leads coalitions and works with legislators, legislative staff, agency officials, and fellow advocates to advance an environmental protection agenda.

In addition to working at the Environmental League, Erica provides career consulting services and is an advocacy and communications consultant for Boston Park Advocates.  She has served as an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University for several semesters, and a guest speaker at numerous schools including Harvard and Boston University.  Prior to working at the Environmental League, Erica created and led the sustainability program at Suffolk University.  She is passionate about safe streets and is eager to share strategies for how to effectively advocate for policies and practices that foster healthy, vibrant, equitable communities.
