Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and state mandates, this ride will not be held if social distancing and limited gathering size requirements remain in place. Please check this page again to confirm the ride will be held. Please ride responsibly during the public health crisis. If you choose to ride on your own, please follow these safety guidelines: 1)      Ride alone or with people you already live with and adhere to social distancing guidelines. 2)      Bring all the snacks and water you will need to minimize stops at stores and interactions with others. 3)      Ride with caution since our medical community is already overburdened. 4)      Plan your ride to minimize stops and have a backup plan should you need assistance. 5)      Do not ride if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. Come explore Houghs Neck with us — Ride along the MWRA Dike and discover some hidden gems of the city. Ride Route (Map below) Our Discovering Quincy Rides are designed to show you routes through Quincy that are less stressful than riding on the main roads you might use when driving.  We want you to experience how bikeable Quincy is, to feel comfortable riding to local destinations and doing errands on two wheels. Saturday August 10 Longer Ride, 7:30 am. Meet at Bernazzani School, 701 Furnace Brook Parkway Shorter Ride, 9:00 am. Meet at Merrymount School, 4 Agawam Road Our annual challenge ride to Quincy’s highest elevation point at Chickatawbut Overlook and then out to the coast at Nut Island, but we are welcoming those who want a less strenuous ride also.  Pick your start location and cycle your preferred distance and elevation. Please bring a spare tube and read our Ride Guidelines before you come.   Quincycles rides are open to members and non-members. May 30 Update: This event has sold out for the T-shirts and lunch.  If you haven’t registered and want to ride with us you may and we welcome you too! But please be aware that the catered luncheon is for those registered — our grant only allowed for food for a certain number.  However, Gaveston’s sells food and you should be able to purchase something if we cannot accommodate you. We look forward to riding with you! Quincycles and Save the Harbor Save the Bay invite you to join us for one of our 2 ride options on Saturday, June 2. The first 60 riders to register will receive a t-shirt, and are welcome to join us after the ride for a free luncheon at Gaveston’s Deli at Marina Bay supported by Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. Come enjoy Quincy’s coastline by bike! 23 Miles and 10 Beaches Ride Option (7:30am) Meet at Anderson Bicycle, 380 Washington Street at 7:30am Cycle with us along Quincy’s coastline and enjoy the views from our beaches. Approximately 23 miles. We will ride the Quincy shoreline via Quincy Point, Adams Shore, Germantown, Houghs Neck and Merrymount communities and then along Wollaston Beach. It is our goal to maintain a pace of 12mph and minimize stops during this ride. We will take a break at the Kennedy Center and meet up with the Short Ride group at 9:30 befroe continuing around the coast of Squantum as described below. Squantum and Marina Bay Ride Option (9:30am) Meet at the Kennedy Center, 440 East Squantum Street, Quincy at 9:30am This ride is for those cyclists who want to enjoy Quincy’s coast but not quite all of it. Approximately 8 miles. This will be a more relaxed ride around the coast of Squantum to Squantum Post then back via Marina Bay to Commander Shea Boulevard and a bike path around the Moorings and then back to Squantum Point Park.     Quincycles rides are open to members and non-members.
